Normally, we provide traditional crowns that are handcrafted in a dental lab. The process begins with a digital intraoral camera that captures a detailed image of the damaged tooth, as well as surrounding and opposing teeth. These images are transferred to E4D\u2019s computer, which is loaded with special software that creates a 3D virtual representation of your tooth. With this information, the computer designs your dental crown. Every detail is included\u2014color, size, and shape, right down to the cusps and grooves of the chewing surface if the tooth is a molar. In this way, your new crown will feel no different than your natural tooth did when you bite down. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;\">Finally, the design is sent to the milling unit that will fabricate your crown right here in our Arnold dental practice. Special burrs carve the crown from a single block of porcelain. Your crown will be ready for placement in less than 30 minutes. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;\">Before bonding your crown into place, Dr. Jonathan Mears or Dr. Laura Mears will double-check the crown to make sure the fit is perfect. We also can use hand tools to further polish or stain your crown to exactly match the sheen of nearby teeth.
