Even if your toothbrush seems to look and work as it\u2019s supposed to, after 3 or 4 months, the fibers start to wear down and hold onto harmful dental bacteria. Your toothbrush will be much less effective at cleaning your teeth. An old toothbrush is still better than no toothbrush, but not by too much.<\/div>\n

Get a Replacement Toothbrush Every 3-4 Months<\/h2>\n
If you\u2019re brushing your teeth thoroughly twice a day for at least two minutes, you should be replacing your toothbrush at least every 4 months.\u00a0 <\/span>Sometimes some patients need to replace them sooner if you see that the bristles are frayed. Are they frayed or pointing in every which direction instead of smooth and standing straight up? If so, it\u2019s time to get a new toothbrush.<\/div>\n
Keep in mind that you may also want to replace your toothbrush if you\u2019ve recently been sick, since the associated bacteria and viruses could potentially get you sick all over again. Your dentist thinks it\u2019s a good idea to stock up on a few toothbrushes for each member of your house. This way, you\u2019ll always be prepared to switch your family\u2019s toothbrush out if you need to.<\/div>\n

You can make the most out of your toothbrush when you take care of it properly.\u00a0 <\/span>Follow these simple steps:<\/div>\n

\u00b7<\/span><\/span>Store your toothbrush in an open space rather than a closed cabinent or in a case. This will reduce the chances of germs spreading in dark, damp places.<\/div>\n
\u00b7<\/span><\/span>When you\u2019re finished using your toothbrush, let it dry out between uses to prevent dental bacteria and build-up of harmful materials.<\/div>\n
