The old adage, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” couldn’t be more true than when it comes to caring for your children’s teeth. That’s why JL Dental puts prevention to work in their practice of children’s dentistry. We’d much rather prevent a problem from ever starting than treat a problem later.
With this in mind, Drs. Jonathan and Laura Mearsrecommend that your child start visiting JL Dental around the age of three. At this first visit, we will count their teeth, perform a quick exam and try to make them feel comfortable in a dentist’s office. As they grow and move through the progressive phases of oral development, we we will apply dental sealants to their adult molars in order to prevent decay and use fluoride treatments to strengthen their teeth. Of course, if we do notice a problem at one of their regular six-month check-ups, we will treat that, too.
